Charleston House
July 21st, 2008
Charleston House is really worth visiting for inspiration on planting. The vibrant borders are at their best early summer. They are made up of mainly herbaceous perennials e.g. Aqualegia, Allium, Geranium and Thalictrum. The wavy Buxus hedge is also a stunning feature within the walled garden.
It is only a 20 minute drive from Brighton and a stop at Middle farm on the way back for some organic meat and perry cider makes for a fruitful summer afternoon road trip.

July 14th, 2008I have recently just discovered this inspirational and highly commendable cause founded in London. It has been set up to encourage people to utilise their front garden, balcony or windowsill space for growing vegetables. In this time where self-sufficiency is very much needed, this scheme is there to help people ‘grow your own’. Please take a look at their website, www.foodupfront.org, which will explain more. The RHS (www.rhs.org.uk) website is also a very useful source of information when it comes to growing your own.
